I love listening to this woman sing! Her voice has depth, power and femininity. Her music gives me chills sometimes. Cold War is one of those songs. It is moving. Oddly, I had a hard time hearing the words. I was so wrapped up in the emotional experience of the music, it took me a few plays to get through to the words. They are worth the effort. – CAN
written by Patty Griffin, and “Easy From Now On” written by Susanna Clark (who is a superb songwriter and artist – also the wife of legend Guy Clark) & Carlene Carter (who also has a critically acclaimed comeback album out now). Both sung by Miranda Lambert.
Miranda’s newest album (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) is really interesting. Her original songwriting is impressively advanced, especially for a 24 year-old on a major label. She writes most of her material, but when she covers songs, her choices are singularly hip and smart. You will enjoy these two. - BMI
Brad is a good musician and song writer with a throaty voice that reaches into your gut. He can really sing the blues. He can also sing a big Nashville rock and roll. In this new track, you can hear the soul of Memphis in the vocal and lyric - as classic as a Van Morrison record with a hook as catchy as any Petty tune. I hear “Big Soda” is sponsoring his upcoming tour. I think Brad is eyeing the national audience. It is a well crafted song; I think they will like it. - CAN
From the new CD “Nathan Lee / down at the rutledge.” Wrecking Ball is straight forward rock and roll. The CD is all original music recorded live. It is rock and pop with good instrumentals and strong vocals a little reminiscent of Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen. “Wrecking Ball” will get you going, another cut “Beautiful” will slow you down, or get the whole CD and go on a road trip. – CAN
Made to Worship won the Song of the Year at the 2008 BMI Christian Music Awards in April. Cash also garnered the Songwriter of the Year honor with this song and two other great compositions: “Holding onto You,” and “How Can I Keep from Singing.” - CAN
Aaron Watson is all Texas. His new CD, Angels and Outlaws, is pure, classic Country music. The songs are about love, heartbreak, whiskey, love, trucks, cowboys, neon, love and inspiration. An angel rescues a cowboy in the title track by Aaron Watson and Neal Lowry. Aaron roped in some big country talent to help out on the album. My favorite was Heart of Life. It reaches deep and sings pure. - CAN
